It was a great class but not what I expected in a basics technique class. It was more like what I expect the nature class to be.

I am a non-representational abstract painter, with a strong focus on colour relationships and texture. My paintings are about life experiences and ideas about art. My paintings are an expression of colour and they are associated with emotional connections. I am inspired by Cy Twombly, William de Kooning, and Aida Tomescu. My project has developed from an interest in symbolic representation to a purely non-representational approach. This has allowed me to explore the conceptual meaning of colour theory and the intersection of emotion and rational thought. I use acrylic paint on canvas and experiment with applying the paint in varied ways with brushes, squeegees, rags and palette knives. I am also fascinated with the texture of the paint, adding calcium carbonate, wood shavings and sand to change the viscosity of the paint and the surface qualities. For each painting, I experiment with colour to create a harmonious palette. These paintings allow the viewer to experience exaggerated gestural brushstrokes through wash of colour and gain an overall sense of balance and harmony. I believe that abstract painting should not necessarily have any story to tell. In this way sometimes the viewer finds what the painting is about.

These two little mice bring me pure joy everytime I look at them. It takes me back to my childhood of enchanted movies of woodland animals, imagination and play. I had to paint them, the whole process was pure joy, hence the title. Referance photo is by Belinda Fewings and can be found on Unsplash.

I am a middle art teacher for a homeschool enrichment program. My students are ages 9 to 13. I strive to teach them that their age is not a barrier to creating complex, stunning art. I was searching for inspiration images for our first watercolor unit that emphasized the use of the untouched paper and negative space to provide the light. I stumbled upon a reel of a similar image and decided to try my hand at creating my version as the prototype for the class. This piece turned out beyond anythin

This is a portrait of my friend, Marta. The reference photo was from a family portrait that her family posed for when they were visiting their hometown in Puerto Rico. I loved the regal look she had and was inspired to try a portrait in watercolor for the first time ever. It isn?t perfect, but I think I captured her likeness. I gifted this painting to Marta. It now hangs in a gallery wall of art.. in the bathroom! And I couldn?t be more honored. It is approximately 5x7 on Arches paper with
